Science-Based Engineering

Engineering is a profession oriented to the proficient application of a distinctive body of knowledge, based on mathematics, natural sciences and technology, together with business management, which is acquired by education and professional formation, in one or more areas of specialization. The engineering profession is oriented to the development, provision and maintenance of infrastructure, goods and services, for industry and the community.

An engineering program must be consistent in itself, considering its objectives and the skills it provides, as well as the curriculum contents and its design.

A Science-Based Engineering Program leads to the professional title of Civil Engineer, or an essentially equivalent one, and to the bachelor degree in sciences of engineering. This program must have a strong scientific base and be oriented to design, management and production.
